Make it a Movie Night

Posted by Mike Turner on March 10th, 2010

Hard day at work? Home alone with no plans nor obligations for the night? Why not stay and watch one of your favorite movies? It’s a great way to spend the night at home.

What can beat a great show with a few of your fave snacks sitting down on your comfortable chair? Especially after a dull of even stressful day.

The great thing about renting a movie is it’s not only fun solo. It’s a great way to spend the night with the whole family. Strengthen that bond with the kids and enjoy the quality time at the comfort of your own home.

Movies are known to be great conversation starters and who said unwinding is best done alone. Share the experience with the whole family.

You can pop a bag of popcorn, or you can go a healthier route if thats a concern. Those extras dont really matter - when you are all together, its great. Fruits and nuts can be great alternatives to less healthy snacks. Or you can skip the snacks entirely.

Of course, depending on your movie choice during the rental night, everyone watching may be too engrossed in the film to even care what they’re snacking on.

A really big trend going on right now is renting movies online. This option is absolutely perfect for those who tend to rent movies very often. Some of the online rental service providers offer full year memberships so that you can enjoy renting as much as you want all year round.

Of course, this is only a good option if you and your family rent movies on a regular basis. Compare the costs. It may be a great deal for you, especially if everyone in your house likes a different kind of movie.

Online movie rental is also really convenient. How many people really feel like stopping one more place on the way home after a long day at work? When you rent online, you simply send your movies back through mail.

Most memberships make it very easy to select the movies that you want. All it takes is a simple click of a button and your movie rental will be in your mailbox the next day.

Also, you will usually enjoy a wider selection of possible movies from the online option as oppose to the local rental stores.

Whether you are looking for a pick-me-up, a valuable lesson, or a great big scare, a movie rental can be the place to find it. You can choose from the latest releases, but dont overlook the classics. So dig that remote out of the couch cushion and get started watching.

Why Are Luxury Cruise Holidays Becoming Popular With Vacationers?

Posted by Dorothy Yamich on March 9th, 2010

In this era of faster everything, including faster and larger commercial airliners where passengers are packed in like sardines, one thing seems to remain constant. That is the wonderful, leisurely world of cruising. For many years the airline industry has experienced numerous setbacks, while the cruise industry has been growing by leaps and bounds. There are many reasons why you should consider becoming a part of this amazing phenomenon. Here are some of them.

According to some recent research from the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), ninety-five percent of cruisers give top marks to their cruising experience and over seventy-five percent are planning to cruise again within three years.

Contrary to what some people think, cruises are really affordable. Usually, with most vacations you end up paying for airline flights, hotels or resorts, restaurants, entertainment, and possibly car rentals. If you add these costs up, cruises can really be a bargain. When you book a luxury cruise, in most cases you will pay for the airfare and cruise. However, if you do live close enough to your cruise ship departure port, you may be able to drive there a way lot cheaper than flying.

Even if you do have to fly to the departure port you can always get a flight and cruise package which is usually less expensive than buying your flight and cruise separately. You will save even more money as your lodging, restaurant meals, and entertainment are also included.

When you book a luxury cruise holiday, well over 85% of your vacation is prepaid and that includes all meals, movies, night clubs, stage shows, and entertainment, as well as many other activities and amenities. In addition, most ships have onboard activities such as rock climbing, golf, climbing, dancing, swimming, scuba diving lessons which can lead to certification, Pilates, yoga, and fitness trainers. You can also treat yourself to relaxing spas and body massages.

Another way to save big bucks on a cruise is booking an inside cabin. If you don’t need to have a cabin with a balcony or ocean view, then you’ll save a lot of money. You have the use of all the amenities that are shared with your fellow passengers have, but it’s costing you a lot less.

You can also save a bundle on repositioning cruises. A repositioning cruise is made possible at certain times of the year, usually in the spring and fall, when cruise lines relocate their ships from one part of the world to another.

There are numerous luxury cruise vacations to choose from, that range from three day mini cruises to several month long cruises as well as an incredible around the world cruise odyssey.

When you’re cruising, you are traveling in the lap of luxury in a floating five-star hotel. You will be pampered and feel like you are living the life of a king or queen, not just for a day, but for every day of the cruise. Gourmet dining, elegant surroundings and impeccable service are only a few of the superlatives that can be used to describe cruising.

If you like delicious food you will certainly love gourmet meals and scrumptious desserts prepared by incredible chefs and served in a variety of restaurants. There are also huge, delightful buffets available throughout the day and even midnight buffets. There are a number of themed lounges located throughout the cruise ships for your convenience.

Love to see Broadway style shows and theater performances without making reservations or paying outrageous prices for tickets? Then taking a cruise is the answer. So many things are included on a cruise that make cruising such a great value for your travel and entertainment dollar.

From children to great grandparents, there is always something to interest everyone on a cruise. You have the option to be as active as you like or you can just relax and experience magnificent sunrises and breathtaking sunsets while watching the world go by. So many wonderful, precious memories and experiences will stay with you a lifetime when you take a luxury cruise.

Want to party around the clock? Not a problem. Whether you are with a partner or single, it’s always party time. You don’t even have to plan or clean up after the party, just have a lot of fun!

Businesses from around the world book conferences and seminars, team building get-togethers, new product launches and employee reward vacations on cruise ships. Cruise lines do not charge extra for conference room facilities and use of audio and video equipment.

Group cruises aren’t only for companies and business people. Weddings and honeymoons, family reunions, sports groups and clubs, charities and fund raisers are only some of the many types of groups that have their events on cruises.

On cruises there is no hassle of having to pack and unpack over again every time you travel to a different destination. Another bonus is that there’s no limit to the amount of luggage you can bring along on a cruise.

People with disabilities should not have problems getting around on a cruise ship. Cruise lines have made onboard accessibility a non-issue because their ships are equipped with ramps, elevators and easily accessible cabins and state rooms.

Modern cruise ships have drastically reduced the problem concerning seasickness. Today’s larger ships cut through the waves instead of riding on the top of them. Also, new and innovative technologies like stabilizers and counterbalancing systems have greatly reduced the pitch and roll of cruise ships, all but neutralizing problems with seasickness.

A physician and medical staff are never more than a few minutes away on a cruise ship should any passenger need to see doctor. Most common passenger ailments and minor mishaps occur less on a cruise ship than on shore.

Cruising is one of the safest forms of travel. The cruise industry has an excellent record of safety. And as far as robberies and assaults are concerned, they are over a hundred times less likely to happen on a cruise ship than in your own home town.

For people who have a fear of flying or are not fond of being crammed like sardines into commercial airplanes when traveling to their destinations, here is some great news. The cruise lines in the U.S. A. are making terrific headway catering to cruise passengers needs. They are opening up more ports of call on both the West and East coasts so more and more people who would love to take a cruise but don’t care for flying, can easily drive or take a bus or train to most departure ports.

To quickly locate and book cheap cruises, for the lowest possible price, whenever you feel like traveling, visit Travel Tips Guide, for more info.

Lost Luggage - Can You Lessen The Risk On A Holiday Air Flight?

Posted by Dorothy Yamich on March 9th, 2010

Whether you take air flights for business, or holidays and vacations, you have probably lost luggage or know of a person that has. Here are some travel tips that may help you prevent this happening.

It is estimated that more than a million bags are lost by commercial airlines each year in the United States alone. How much luggage that get lost in the whole world is anybody’s guess. Here are some tips that may help you recover your bags if they are ever lost.

Attach two or three tags with your name, home address, and phone number to the handle and the zipper-pulls of each bag that you are checking. There is less of a chance that all of the tags could get torn off during transit. You should make sure that you have removed any old airline tags that are still attached to the luggage you’re checking as they could confuse the baggage handlers.

Be sure to place the same contact information, including a copy of your itinerary and your destination address inside each piece luggage. That way, if they do get lost and are found in time, they could be forwarded to your hotel.

Pick luggage with a bright or odd color that will stand out among the numerous black and brown bags. Know the brand name of the luggage that you have and attach a colorful ribbon or scarf to the handle to make identification easier. Stick some decals or a contrasting colored tape to every side of the bags so they are easier to spot as the carousel goes around. Try to remember these details, or better still, take a photo of your luggage just before you go and bring it with you. This can help the lost luggage staff at the airport in locating your bags if they are lost in transit and show up at their office. It will also help when you have to make a claim.

It helps to make a list of what you have in your luggage and carry that list in you carry-on bag. The chance of your luggage getting lost in transit increases dramatically when you have connecting, or delayed flights. Always pack all of your valuables, including your laptop or Blackberry, travel documents, prescriptions, etc., in your carry-on bag. It makes sense to pack only the things you can afford to lose in your checked baggage. Most analysts believe that the airline industry’s problem of lost luggage is not going to be resolved anytime soon.

What should you do if the airlines lose your luggage?

Go immediately to the baggage claim office and file your claim. Many airlines have a twenty-four hour window of time starting from when your flight arrives to file a claim and be eligible for compensation. Get a claim receipt and check the tracking of your luggage with the airline by phone, or on the airline’s website. Make sure you keep all your flight documents until the lost luggage problem has been resolved.

How can you guarantee that your luggage will not be lost by the airlines?

There are a number of companies that will send your luggage in the U.S., such as UPS, FedEx, or DHL, directly to your hotel or destination address for a reasonable cost. If you are staying in a hotel, your luggage will be brought to your room. When you consider that in the U.S. alone, well over a million bags are lost by the airlines every year, this service may be well worth considering. If you are traveling by air through Europe, FirstLuggage.com, has a similar service.

Bernina Sewing Machine - Frequently Asked Questions

Posted by Guest on March 8th, 2010

If you are considering buying a bernina sewing machine, but you’re not absolutely positive which bernina sewing machine will best suit your needs, here is a few frequently asked questions that may perhaps assist you in making the best selection.

Are Bernina sewing machines light and protable?
You may see that a lot of of the Bernina sewing machine models are fairly lightweight and portable. In reality, several machines come with cases for carrying the machine from one location to another safely. Many machines weigh less than ten pounds, making them best for transporting.

What features are available with Bernina sewing machine?
Every Bernina sewing machine offer several features in addition to special functions. As an example, the Bernina 830 gives you 50% much more room than different leading designs on the market today. There is a fifteen inch long extender arm that may supply the consumer over 12 inches of work area to the left of the needle. If you are operating with bulky projects this may be very beneficial.

How many stitch types are there on a Bernina Machine?
All Bernina sewing Machine do contain several stitches that you’ll be able to select. The number of stitches and styles will vary according to the version that you buy. However, some machines will call for different presser feet for different stitches. Bernina sewing machines additionally have the fastest stitch rate on the market. The 830 version can sew around 1, 100 stitches per minute.

Can I embroidry with a Bernina Sewing Machine?
Bernina sewing machines provide several different functions and options for both sewing and embroidering. A few bernina sewing machines provide both sewing and embroidery while you will find models that are just for embroidry alone.

My bernina sewing machine issue did not get answered in these 5 questions. Any suggestions?
Good sites focused on bernina sewing machines are tricky to come across.  But you ought to visit the bernina sewing machine forum at http://bernina-sewing-machine.bidandblog.com .   The forum is a free of charge web community that offers a lot of member-contributed faqs regarding bernina sewing machines.  Plus Bid and blog’s forum offers live bernina sewing machine auctions and a free bernina sewing machine email alert service.  In reality, if you can not get the answer to your question at that site, it most likely does not exist.

Model Railroad Roads

Posted by Guest on March 8th, 2010

Locomotives and tracks are great but they are not the only part of model training.  Your design for your track looks marvelous and I love how you have various types of terrain for your locomotive to cross.  You know what we haven’t thought much about yet though? What about the rude roads that should zig zag our landscape?  Right now these “roads” have scant detail and don’t really look like real roads at all.  Try this:

Build model railroad roads like we would build them in real life:

A great way to get realistic effects is to create roads just like they are made in the real world.  Set down a foundation for the road. Overlay it with a dome of molding plaster.  The edge of the road should be lower than the middle since roads are built to move rain towards the edges.  A cool tip:  Here’s a real cool effect that I saw recently. This model railroad setup was going for a rural feel so when it made a walk way that crossed down into the model ranch it made it a dirt road.  To get this effect the hobbyist used actual dirt. What an effect!

Weather your model railroad paths like you do your trains:

What really takes a model train design to a higher level is the creator’s eye for detail.  Add pot holes, fissures and discolorations to your road so that they imitate what you see in real life.  You will find that the craft of weathering really adds whole new dimensions of realism to your model railway train world.

Pre-fab model railroad streets:

There are lots of companies that make really cool toy railroad roads and streets.  A pre-fab road can be a lot more fun than the extended sweat it takes to build it yourself.  I personally love Walthers Cornerstone products.  They make lots of fantastic topography but I especially like the roads.  They have at least a couple of types of city streets worth checking out. They really lend some nice variety to your model railroad layout.  Walther’s other products are pretty cool too. Check out their line of steel structures that they group under the title of  “Ashland Iron and Steel”.  If you’re into HO gauge Walthers Cornerstone is good place to go to get your accessories.

Don’t forget to add interesting borders to your model railroad roads:

Your average sidewalk has children, stray cats, fire hydrants and construction detour signs and so should yours. The childlike joy of such details is unquestionable!  These little artistic touches can really make your model train display “pop” as they say in the art world.  Also, if you have a family member that is good at working with their hands but not generally into the more mathematical aspects of the model railway trains experience, this may be the perfect chance to recruit them in the family fun.

Suggestion: Here’s an item that I think is especially neat if you’re willing to shell out the extra clams. Try Walther’s Cornerstone working street lamps. Think of your locomotive design as a night scene and change the whole aura of your lay out. Soooo cooool!

Model railroad roads are just one of the many parts of the model train world that you can choose to focus your attentions on. Landscapes are about the natural world.  A mountainous surface, for example, is far more interesting than a flat one. Steep drop offs and ponds give us a sense of awe even in miniature.  Period specific buildings and miniature people can really add to this interest as well.

Here is more information on Model Railway Trains. Here is a website with a free mini-course dedicated to Model Trains.

Kansas City QB Cassel’s Status Uncertain For NFL Opener

Posted by Ross Everett on March 8th, 2010

The good news for the Kansas City Chiefs as they prepare for the start of the NFL regular season is that their starting quarterback is back at practice. The bad news is that they still don’t know when hell be able to play. Matt Cassel returned to the Chiefs practice field on Monday for the first time since he injured his left knee in a NFL preseason game on August 29th. Still, there’s been no confirmation from either he or the team as to when hell return to action.

Cassel, who saw his stock shoot up precipitously as an NFL QB following his solid play in New England after starter Tom Brady went down to a season ending injury, signed a six year, $28 million contract with the Chiefs in the off season. Although Cassel participated in Monday’s practice albeit on a limited basis, head coach Todd Haley was noncommittal about whether he or Brodie Croyle would start Sundays NFL regular season opener on the road against the Baltimore Ravens:

“I think that as the week goes on, we’ll know a little bit more. We’ll know a little bit more with Matt for sure. But it was good that he was out there. He was able to get through some things. As the week goes on a little further, we’ll know a little more as far as where he’s at.”

“It’s good this is a long week. That will help with anybody who’s nicked up. I would say generally you would need to have a full practice to have a chance to play. Generally, you need to have a full Friday practice to have a chance.”

With or without Cassel, the Chiefs offense sputtered in the preseason scoring only two touchdowns. The lack of productivity cost offensive coordinator Chan Gailey his job and Kansas City stumbled to a 0-4 record in their NFL exhibition contests. Haley has taken over the offensive play calling for the time being, though it made no difference in the Chiefs final preseason game. Neither Croyle nor third stringer Tyler Thigpen was particularly sharp in preseason play, though Croyle got the most work and should get the nod on Sunday if Cassell is unable to play.

No matter who ends up under center for Kansas City as they start their NFL regular season, theyll face a tough assignment against the defensive tenacity of the Baltimore Ravens. The Chiefs will welcome the Oakland Raiders to Kansas City in week 2 of the NFL season, and play the next game on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles.

How To Play Poker With Texas Holdem

Posted by Poker Suzie on March 8th, 2010

The game of poker is one that is becoming ever more popular around the world as the years go by. With the rise of the internet it is being played more and more and comes in many different forms. In this article I am briefly going to describe how a hand is played in the game of texas holdem. Here are some tips on how to play poker in this way.

The first thing to happen is all of the players will take their seats around the table with a dealer sat in the middle. The dealer will then deal out a single card to each player in order to find the player who gets the highest card, ace being high in poker. This player will then be known as the ‘button’ for the first of the hands and this position will move around the table each hand in a clockwise movement.

The person to the immediate left of the button will put down the small blind and then the person to their left will offer up the big blind. These blinds refer to a small amount of money or chips that need to be input before each blind is dealt out. They are intended to make sure that people are actually required to bet in order to get a pot going.

These cards will be the most important part of the game and the aim as the hand progresses will be to link these cards with further cards that are placed onto the table, in order to find the best five card hand that you can, without others knowing about them.

The first person to make the bet will be the person to the left of the big blind. They will have to call at leas the level of the big blind if they are wanting to play in the hand but they can raise to any value that they wish above being double that of the big blind.

When that player had made their bet then each player will have their turn to either call, raise or re-raise. If you want to stay in the game you have to at least match the largest bet that has been made. After the first round of betting is done then three cards will be set out by the dealer, and this is called the flop. After this another round of betting will happen with anyone who is left in the hand and then another card called ‘the turn’ will come down.

After the turn a further betting round happens and then a final card called ‘the river’ is dealt out by the dealer. After the river each player will have all of the cards they can get in order to make their best hand using a maximum of five of the seven cards. A final round of betting will then happen with anyone left in the game and then the winner will take the pot before another hand begins.

And that is basically how a hand of poker is played in texas holdem.

Free Electric Guitar Lesson - Are They Good Enough To Help You Become A Good Guitarist?

Posted by Brett McCall on March 7th, 2010

If you’re hunting for electric guitar lessons, it isn’t really that tricky to find them on the web.

But before that, what’s your inspiration to begin to learn the electric guitar?

Frequently the real reason to learn the electric guitar is often because you want to be like your idol - the lead guitar strummer from a famous band. This this completely a convincing reason since the most famous member of a rock group is usually the lead guitar player. So of course you want to be like your idol right?

So let’s begin your hunt for free online electric guitar lessons. Just key in “free electric guitar lesson” into any of the well-liked search engines. Don’t forget to enclose the phrase in quotation marks to get the maximum important results. Now if you can’t find the results you want, expand it further using phrases such as “beginner free guitar lessons” or merely “free guitar lessons”.

Now once you got the results from the search websites, consider the following few major points about the electric guitar.

First off the electric guitar is not like acoustic guitars in that electric guitars need amplifiers to hear the sound. Acoustic guitars are easily audible because they have sound holes in them while their electric opposite numbers do not. There are some electric guitars though that do have tiny sound holes and which allows you to hear the sound even without an amplifier and these are called semi-hollow electric guitars.

Next, electric guitar lessons come in a selection of format. Some only offers an electronic book while others include online videos, software, games and DVD instructional videos. You could find many good free electric guitar lessons online by going through the search results.

as usual, electric guitar lessons for free will routinely not make you into the guitarist you would like to be. Most of the free lessons are good to just get yourself up to playing some straightforward songs. This is as these lessons are typically not complete. So if you wish to learn the electric guitar fast and master it in a short time, your best chance is always a paid version.

Fortunately though, learning guitar today won’t lead you to lose your shirt. You see, traditionally, learning from a guitar teacher will set you back between $30 to $60 per lesson and this is allegedly too much for many budding guitar player.

With the web, you can get a total guitar course for a small part of that. Many good online guitar courses cost anything from $40 to $150 for a full-years of guitar instructions. Now that is what I called fantastic worth for your money!

Lookout below for more resources for both paid and free online electric guitar lessons online .

To discover more of the world’s most effective guitar courses, go to Beginner Guitar Lesson Online Reviews. If you want free guitar lessons, go to Free Electric Guitar Course.
